In response to Johann Hari’s ‘The dark side of Dubai’, a journalist based in Dubai, Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi wrote an article about London, the same way Johann Hari did about Dubai.
It’s quite interesting. Here’s the link: ‘If you think Dubai is bad, just look at your own country’
“Because when you stitch together a collection of unconnected facts taken out of context, you end up with a distorted and inaccurate picture: something that Britain's Dubai-bashers would do well to learn.”
I was surprised to learn that in the UK, 13.2 million people, or around 20 percent of the population lives in poverty. :O
But I figured that those figures don’t necessarily mean that all the 13.2 millions in poverty live on the streets and squatter houses. People in normal houses can be considered living in poverty too. That’s because, “Official poverty statistics here [in the UK] are calculated as the number of people living on less than 60 per cent of the median income, after deducting housing costs.”
