Tomorrow, the 25th of February, shall be a fortunate day for me, and an even more fortunate day for my friend Bahri (his take on this), when the SOAS Memorial Lecture takes place. For more information about this event, here’s a BT article.
From what I heard from my dad, a lot of people from his workplace has been trying to get hold of the tickets but to no avail. What I’m saying is that I am feeling VERY lucky to have been one of the earlybirds to get the (free) tickets as they are very limited. Though not surprisingly, a portion of the soon-to-be-audience are on invitations; it’s only the general public that has to personally book the tickets.
There are TWO solid reasons for me feeling great about having the ticket:
1. This somehow highlights my participation in the 25th, Silver Jubilee, National Day of Brunei Darussalam, as the memorial lecture is, if I’m not mistaken, held in conjunction with our 25th National Day.
2. I am somewhat fond of Singapore and how it has tremendously developed even without much of resources to begin with, unlike Brunei; I’m speaking of how Brunei possesses a lot of oil.
Here’s a BT article that you’d probably be interested in reading, but hey, interested or not, GO READ SAJA! Link: Lee Kuan Yew on Brunei's next level of growth
S’pore Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew
Thus, being able to attend the “founding father of the prosperous city-state”, Singapore’s Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew’s lecture, especially given that he will, after all, be talking about the late SOAS, is an opportunity very much worth grabbing.
Let’s just hope I won’t wake up late to end up missing it. LOL.
